Welcome to the CIL of South Florida website!

 If you’re a person with a disability of any age, you’ve come to the right place. We have what you need or we can help you find it. If you want advice, services, referrals, or help navigating the complex and confusing system of disability resources, we offer a staff composed mostly of people with different disabilities who can point you in the right direction because they have been successful advocating for themselves.

 Communication is the key to our success. Our staff speaks Spanish, Creole, English, and American Sign Language. We provide our written information in Braille, large print, audiotape, and electronic format upon request.

 If you have a question, concern, or comment, call 305-751-8025 (voice), 305-751-8891 (TDD), or email: info@soflacil.org.

Who is eligible for services?

Anyone with a disability is welcome here. Our services are free of charge to persons with disabilities. We help people with physical, sensory (deafness, blindness), intellectual, mental/emotional, or environmental disabilities, regardless of age or income.

The ADA defines the term “disability” as follows:

The term “disability” means, with respect to an individual -

(A) A physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of such individual;

(B) A record of such an impairment; or

(C) Being regarded as having such an impairment.

 If an individual meets any one of these three tests, he or she is considered to be an individual with a disability for purposes of coverage under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
